lol it’s so genuinely fun seeing Cory take decades of fluency in how these systems are broken and serve it up for a mainstream audiences. Even if you know “enshittification” well, this is worth the watch. And love to @eff.org! youtu.be/d2e-c9SF5nE

I've tried setting my computer back to light mode a couple times recently, forcing myself to give it an hour or two so the shock wears off, it's so bright that it feels like my screen is yelling at my eyes, experiment failed successfully

Not sure why, but I decided to go back through the Pink Floyd catalog from the beginning. Got to Main Theme off the "More" soundtrack and was like, what is TOOL doing in here? Definitely getting themes of Forty Six & 2 in it, or I guess it'd be the other way around. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IejE...

Either he's legit walking around with eyes closed, fingers in his ears, yelling lalalalalala ... or he's a liar. I'm not sure which is worse, willful ignorance in the face of human suffering, or persistent lying to avoid responsibility. Either way, neither is a Christ-like response. 100% cowardice.

Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

MIKE JOHNSON: I can't comment on any of those instances. I haven't seen or heard any of those videos

What kind of religion is so weak that its deity needs to be "saved" by the followers? If mere mortals need to be called upon to rescue your god, you have lost all claim toward it being an all powerful, omnipotent god. This is an admission that it's not about religion, and one that most will miss.
Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

By this logic he's basically saying, "If you want me to stop hitting you, then stop giving me reasons to hit you."

If you don't like being called a Nazi, perhaps you should stop acting like one
Vance: "If you want stop political violence, stop telling your supporters that everybody who disagrees with you is a Nazi."

With regard to the events of the last week, I'll note anecdotally that I saw far more vicious comments on Threads than here, and neither of them were a patch on what I saw on Reddit, which suggests to me Bluesky is just a convenient punching bag for the right, blame-wise. This is not news.

Don’t wish murder on anyone because then you wish it on everyone. Don’t minimize a murder cuz you didn’t like the murder victim It’s not funny. It’s not edgy. It’s not justice. It’s murder. Each murder is the death of us all in very real ways. I know, I’ve died far too much for one life.

It's always been like this, and it's because the elites are essentially self-preserving, and civility has always been the tool by which non-elites are condemned.
I will never understand how American elites managed to convince themselves that uncivil debate — not fascism, not impunity and not widespread indifference to facts — is the defining problem of our time.

The thing about Clippy is that even though it was annoying, it was down in the corner, out of the way, and easy to ignore. I ended up turning GitHub Copilot off in VSCode because it keeps injecting itself into the lines I am actively working on, and things I don't need/want assistance with.

it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.

ICE pretended to arrest a 21 yo in order to force her to call her undocumented mother to come leave the house (where she was safe from ICE arrest) to care for her baby. When the mother came, she was abducted and the daughter was suddenly of no interest to ICE.

Here’s the thing about social media platforms: for the vast majority of people choosing one is a matter of entertainment, interaction, and information, not of “work.” It’s perfectly reasonable to stay away from platforms that suck for you and stick with ones you enjoy.
