Everybody has a Simpsons reference that lives rent free in your head that nobody else gets, but which you constantly make as if other people get it.

My toilet has been having issues lately so I just went down to the store, bought a new fill valve, and installed it instead of calling a plumber.

We all laughed at "Trump Derangement Syndrome" but it's a short walk from that to widespread abuse of the policies that this leads to, so.

Don’t call it ‘Alligator Alcatraz.’ Call it a concentration camp.

This facility’s purpose fits the classic model, and its existence points to serious dangers ahead for the country.

Getting ready for a 6am flight is the loneliest feeling in the world until you get to the airport at 4am and it’s full of people just as miserable as you are.

Really hits home when your local protest is cancelled because a political assassin is on the loose in your neighborhood dressed as a cop.

Really makes you wonder about a lot of hard lines you used to have around home defense and answering the door to anyone.

As exciting as this Elon / Trump stuff is, remember that publicly airing court intrigue is a tried and true strategy for distracting people from the shit going down.

Not suggesting that these people are as capable of 4D chess as people give them credit for, but it's always good to keep it in mind.

As a former teacher of at-risk teens, I can't even begin to describe how important Job Corps was for saving them and giving them a start in the right direction. Catastrophic stuff here that will 100% lead to more youth incarceration, but maybe that's the point.

As a high school teacher I learned that nobody will actually follow the rules simply because they exist, they need to be held accountable.

They’re not stupid, but like toddlers they just don’t think the rules apply to them because they never have.
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

I know I say this often but I really mean it this time: what an absolute piece of shit thing to say about another human being, especially on the record.
JD Vance's reaction to Biden's cancer diagnosis: "Whether the right time to have this conversation is now or some time in the future, we really do need to be honest about whether the former president was capable of doing the job."

As someone for whom Calvin and Hobbes was perhaps the most important piece of media in my development because I had big Calvin neurodivergent energy, his parents are the true heroes.
Calvin and Hobbes doesn’t get enough love for having very realistic parents who love their son but also are just constantly like for fucks sake. Plus they both look like they listen to podcasts. They are very podcast coded.

For years I was a cat guy, but now that I have a dog I can say: we don’t deserve dogs.
Please enjoy these shelter pups reacting to getting a kiss. Some are bashful, some have butterflies, and all deserve approximately 10 million more. 14/10 for all

This is the thing that scares me most about this anti-intellectual movement that valorizes people who actively AVOID education (the hero programmer who leaves college to make money) -- these people have the myopic thinking of the uneducated paired with power and resources.
Funny how folks like to say that humanities degrees are “useless” while the world is being actively destroyed by people not knowing about history, ethics, media literacy, or how to think critically. But sure, tell me again how STEM alone will save us.

I remember going to first term protests while I lived in Utah, none of them were anywhere near this size. Turns out firing everybody in a state that employs a lot of federal workers has an impact.
This is Utah in case anyone’s wondering how pissed off people are. I have never seen anything like this.

This reminds me of the time I asked The Donnas to sign my copy of Funker Vogt's Survivor in front of their grandmothers. In their defense, they were cool about it.
To bring a little joy to your timeline, here's a picture of Krysten Ritter holding a signed copy of Shadow the Hedgehog for the Nintendo GameCube that was taken last night somehow.

I had the same conversation with my 4 year old yesterday about whether she got a second popsicle from the freezer without asking.
Ossoff: This was a huge a mistake

Ratcliffe: No

Ossoff: This is an embarrassment. We will get the full transcript of this chain and your testimony will be measured carefully against its content

This is what happens when you hand over the keys to the kingdom to a class of people who don’t know where the money comes from, just that it gets deposited in their bank accounts every now and then.
like this is not nor has it ever been a GOOD country but it has been a very profitable one right up until - essentially - a class that consists largely of people who own Jet Ski dealerships took it upon themselves to destroy all conditions necessary for people to buy Jet Skis
