By the way, you can email nature@nature.com to let them know what you think of this. It's article 40850 (2025).

I called it a "miscarriage of peer review" and I stand by my words.

This article remains live as of 11/27/25, and was published 11/19/25.

I have many words, and none are polite.
Hey @nature.com, have you got an explanation for how the hell THIS happened? & especially why you accepted a paper with such a bizarre piece of genAI slop in it?!
& more to the point, why we should take you seriously at all going forward?

The Democrats were finally recognised as being on the same side as American voters. Trump is historically unpopular, even among those who voted for him. People were mobilising to provide more community support for those who were going to go hungry.

So the Democrats caved and gave up healthcare. WTF

NEW: North Carolina Republicans have, yet again, gerrymandered the state’s congressional districts. This time, it comes at the cost of the state’s Black voters. But there remains a path to defeating the measure, and it starts at the state’s highest court.

No. They won't. But it's a nice thought.
Will Australian Public Health grasp this challenge, and avoid the evolution of BA.3.2.* into a more efficient form on their watch?

They could avoid the deaths of thousands of Australians, and millions more around the world. Will they act?

No more filibuster? And the GOP takes 100% responsibility for this godawful budget?

This is about as good an outcome as anybody could hope for from our current dire straits.

I've heard estimations of 3.4 million to 7 million protesters collectively at the No Kings Day protests Saturday.

Even at the lower range, that's 1% of the USA population. That's HUGE!

Next time you feel hopeless, reach out to your local organising group and ask how you can help.

To the scolds posting about how these big nonviolent protests are just for lame normies: _this_ is why it matters to get hundreds of thousands of people in one place yelling & waving signs: not just to create solidarity among those there, but to create images that show our huge numbers to the world.

I miss what Facebook was, before it was shit. With most of my network on it, it was an awesome resource for organising parties, organising catch-ups in other cities etc.

I like Mastodon and Blue sky but they don't fill the same niche.

Genuinely mystified by the AU govt approving decades more of gas extraction into a collapsing market for it. I mean it's not like Woodside or Santos pay us anything for it - but where do they think they will find anyone to buy it?

Everyone talks about various things being a distraction from the Epstein files, but in a very real sense, everything else is a distraction being dragged in front of us to stop us noticing this.
There’s so much evil in the world right now. So much in your face obvious evil that this unforgivable omnicidal act by Murray Watt and the ALP probably slides below the surface. But the impact of this on countless people and species, and First Nations culture, outweighs much of the rest. Despicable.

years ago i met a woman studied the impact of corporeal punishment and never forgot what she said: “whenever i show parents the evidence against spanking they always ask ‘ok but what do studies say about the *benefits* of spanking?’ and they don’t believe me when i tell them there just aren’t any.”

Keep speaking up until they get this money out.
