9 people were killed in a tornado last night in KY. The NWS office responsible for that area has faced some of the most extreme cuts by the Trump administration, including the loss of overnight forecasting.

Last night, they were rushing to find help for the office.

If you, like me, are sick of your Senators not answering their phones or having full voicemails, I just used Resistbot to fax strongly worded letters. It costs a bit (it costs ten "coins" and I bought 400 for $10), but at least annoys them more then calling a full line.
Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.

Just a reminder that there are a ton of options (digital! Not just physical!) to get books and movies and tv that aren’t run by evil shit lords. Sign up for a library card today!!
For real — get a library card, sign up for hoopla, kanopy, and Libby and then enjoy
I want to remind everyone that your local library is both physical AND digital.

You hate streaming everything because the price is ridiculous? Library.

You hate ads because they're every 3 mins or less? Library.

You want to reduce your digital footprint? Library.

You want sourced info? Library.

remember, the blitzkrieg is intended to make you feel like there is nothing you can do about it; that’s the only reason to go forward in this haphazard and sloppy manner all in the first week

and the choice of that strategy tells you they are afraid you *will* do something about it

Make sure you use your library cards. Check out books by Black authors, indigenous authors, queer authors and other marginalized communities.

Also, ask your local library to buy more titles by marginalized folks. We often buy those requests.

Use Libby! A lot!

Trump hated TikTok (because China) until it helped him win an election (as even he acknowledges) and now he’s going to save it and take a victory lap. So he’ll have X, TikTok, Insta, and Facebook all working on his behalf. That’s a big difference between now and 2017.
