A theory. Everyone who cares about politics on bluesky ALSO needs to make a habit out of posting about their other interests and hobbies. Making bluesky work for many communities of interest will increase the political reach of the experts here.
The rise of sports betting is going to put pressure on the #nfl to make more plays/penalties reviewable and to develop clearer standards for some penalties — it will reduce suspicion that the flag was bought.

my partner is out with friends, my kid’s aftercare spot is doing an “after dark” special, and I’m… eating dinner and drinking a beer solo while reading an @ecmaeditors.bsky.social paper on my phone at the bar.

I really like skimming authorities for amicus briefs because it's a nice way to figure out which scholarship to read on an issue. Also got a chuckle that someone cited to Baude's post about Nelson's article. (Nelson got cited a lot.)

Donald Trump’s presidency hinges on loyalty, which depends on the perception of power. As a lame duck, that perception is already eroding — and the Epstein scandal is now accelerating it.
Opinion | The Epstein divisions among Republicans are hastening Trump's lame-duck status
These polls suggest the issue is a bigger problem than the president wants to admit.

This seems like a catastrophic restriction on academic freedom. It’s a vote to end the university.
“Texas A&M University System regents voted Thursday to limit how instructors may discuss matters like gender identity and race ideology in classrooms, tightening the rules in a conservative state where debates over academic freedom have flared for months.”

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

it's a tail outcome surely, but what's the probability the GOP throws trump under the bus completely based on these files? substantially non-zero, and higher than a weak ago

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed 4 years ago. In new research @urbaninstitute.bsky.social we study its effects.

US transport spending increased by 30%, but:
—Funding for non-highway projects flatlined
