My one comment on the Cloudflare outage from yesterday is that it's ironic that it's almost exactly the same failure mode as the 2019 outage: shipping a config file worldwide without any validation steps. Bets on the 2031 outage reason?

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Holy cow, changing my PDS to use api.pop2 is SO MUCH FASTER. I saw this tip at the time but forgot to make the change. Remembered it just now when my Following timeline was broken and this change both fixed it and was a massive performance improvement.
Pro tip: PDS_BSKY_APP_VIEW_URL=https://api.pop2.bsky.app in your /pds/pds.env if you're on the better side of the Atlantic 😛
I switched to pop2 and it started working

What's more, it obviously sped things up by 100%, because my ping on pop2 from central Europe is half that on pop1

Prob make sense to have pop2 as the default in Europe

There is a moment at this time of year when the word ‘apricity’ really comes into view. For those who don’t know it, it was recorded only once, in 1623, before slipping out of view. Apricity is the warmth of the sun on a chilly day.

BRING BACK THE MINI
If the iPhone Air is struggling, it suggests that battery life and camera quality are still more important to buyers than thickness and weight.

Oh thank god. pdsadmin can DIAF. (Sorry Jake 😅)
put out a new 'goat' release (v0.1.2) with basic support for PDS administration ('goat pds admin ...').

if you run it from a PDS instance it should find admin auth info automatically.

hope to have this replace the 'pdsadmin' shell script over time
