Right now there’s an artificial bottleneck in English football - the EFL only allow two promotions from the National League. From within the EFL they allow four promotions from its own L2 to L1 - you can see the disparity. But can you explain it.

Peace

We passed their graves:
The dead men there,
Winners or losers,
Did not care.
In the dark
They could not see
Who had gained
The victory.

Finished 'An Englishman's Castle' (1978) last night – an alternative history drama set in England in which the Nazis won WWII.

I really recommend it. Atrocious sound recording and some woodenness, but well worth a watch. Only 3 episodes.

A key on my electric piano has been sticking for weeks, driving me mad.

Been dreading opening it up and spending all day trying to fix it with YouTube videos.

Lost my temper just now and gave it several whacks.

I'm not condoning childish acts of anger, but it's only gone and bloody fixed it.

I am feeling immensely thick, but I don't really get what "turn the volume up" means here? Is it just cos Trump's old?

Belter of a speech overall, though.
Zohran Mamdani: "So Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up."

"Do you recognize that sandwich?"

My sides
Defense is now questioning Lairmore on cross-examination. They show a video still of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground, post-throw.

"Do you recognize that sandwich?" the attorney asks.

Lairmore won't confirm.

"I did not go back to collect it," he says.

Pointless, spiteful piece in @thespectator1828.bsky.social, in which Tom Daley is called a "man-child" and "ageing starlet" with "wool in his brain".

Meanwhile, journo Zoe Williams is a "privately educated performing flea".

Why so angry about a knitting show?

Quite frankly, I think he should have the name "Andrew" taken off him as well. I know several thoroughly decent Andrews and he isn't deserving of the name. He doesn't need one does he? People could just point at him.

I've never watched The Prisoner (1967).

Apparently there's much debate over the best way to watch it in, since the episodes were broadcast in a weird order due to production issues and stuff.

Anyone have a preferred order they'd recommend?
