i’m biased because they’re technically my coworkers but “buhhh IGN bad” is the realm of lazy people who haven’t updated their opinions in 15 years. good people doing good work over there
I cant tell you how much stuff like this means to me. I know how IGN is perceived by a lot of people, and like this person says, how easy it is to say "IGN bad,"
But mannnnn, I really have been working my butt off to be a better, more knowledgeable person in the FGC

Pretty sure I'm going to turn into the old white person that comments on everybody's dog pictures like "I love him" and "Wow she's gorgeous 😍"

I've been conditioned by years of video game promos and media publications to affiliate a genre "evolving" with it just having more action gameplay stuff
And if that's the case, I don't want RPGs to evolve. I want them to go backward. Let me kill an essential NPC and break the main questline!

If you were wondering if Borderlands 4 ironed out its performance issues in the months following its release and the ensuing patches/updates...it has not!
I can tell the gameplay is actually good but it feels bad. Just enough stutters and drops to sour the experience for me.

The Donkey Kong Country "exposed" VHS tape is a hell of a nostalgia trip but also great if you didn't experience official promo material of this time.
The attitude era and a still burgeoning video game industry resulted in some really loose stuff like this.

One of the best, and healthiest, things I've done with video games was to let go of trophies and achievements. Feeling pressured to do content, even if I didn't enjoy it or if it made the experience worse, was like force feeding myself to the point of ruining an otherwise good meal.

i see the Art side (capitalized, not-just-the-graphics-side) of games to be embedded in the creative parts of a game and thus every game is somewhere on the Art spectrum. wholly unique experiences are far and between, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t interesting tidbits inside every game.

The build I recently played had lots of helper text on-screen. You can turn off tutorials, which is nice, because I found that the info Samus got from scanning provided sufficient guidance

Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.

Anytime there’s a boycott on a company, product, platform, etc. it’s extremely important to actively try *not* to shame people who choose not to. I understand when emotions are high, passion can bring out the best and worst in us. Hell, I’ve done it, myself. Just know it almost ALWAYS backfires.
