I know it's meant in good faith but "if we just made smaller scope games and charged 20-40 dollars for them it would fix the industry" is very funny to me. indies release like 20 of those a week on steam. are you buying them? is the industry fixed? no? hm. sounds like you need a different solution

So, I think we’ve gotten way too serious about enjoying stuff in the “right order”.
We used to find new favorites by turning on the tv to whatever was on or renting something from blockbuster with a cool cover.
I’m NOT saying chronological is bad but don’t be a prisoner to sequential perfectionism

When devs specific that they’re not using genAI for “certain things” that means they are using genAI. Otherwise, the answer would be a simple and straightforward “no, we are not using genAI”. They are trying to minimize the likelihood that you realize they are doing the thing nobody likes or wants.
