Detective Instinct is selling more copies in Japan than any other country 😮

It moves me deeply that something we created is resonating with audiences globally, and I can't thank our JP translator Lone and editor Toku enough for their amazing work!

Let's keep up the momentum 👍

The internet is a wonderful place. On the very day that the Famicom version of Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken turns 40, I just found out that there is an actual recording of the radio program in which Takeshi Kitano revealed the identity of the killer to all of Japan. youtu.be/CS2y3o27YUs

Today (11/29) marks the 40th anniversary of the Famicom ver. of classic ADV "The Portopia Serial Murder Case". This version of the game was huge, essentially pioneering the ADV genre on consoles. It notably used a command-driven menu to guide progression due to limited input.

Emma's on the case! 🔍 (more lovely art by our illustrator jeto!)

We've been thoroughly enjoying everyone's reactions to our game. The love for DS-era adventure vibes is strong ♥️

This weekend would be a great time to jump in if you're been thinking about it!

Been playing Detective Instinct and I love how Emma actually comments on how long it takes for you to answer the door in chapter 1 if you spend too much time looking around your room. That didn't happen in the demo so it surprised me. It's a fun detail that makes the characters feel a bit more real.

Just downloaded my copy of Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved on the Switch! Way back in 2023 I did some volunteer testing on this game and offered my feedback on some early builds. It's so impressive to see how polished the game looks now! Congrats @traindetective.bsky.social on the release!

In Sakura Wars GB, you are forced to enter a name for your character at the start of the game, with no default name option. However, if you use hex editing or a cheat device to skip ahead, the game will use "ひろい", or "Hiroi," as a fallback, in reference to Sakura Wars series creator Ohji Hiroi.

Today is the 31st anniversary of Kamaitachi no Yoru. This was a hugely successful "sound novel" for the Super Famicom that popularized novel-style adventure games in Japan and laid the groundwork for the modern visual novel genre.

Looking back, I believe these specifically were the shows that got me back into watching modern anime in my early 20s. Funnily enough, many of these are now pretty retro themselves…

The games that were most special to me this year (so far) are Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and The Hundred Line. 1st Chapter feels like a celebration of an already great RPG and Hundred Line is a sprawling adventure game with seemingly endless branching paths penned by masters of their craft.
