Absolutely incredible turnout for Budapest Pride! So proud of all the organizers, including some old friends, who estimate hundreds of thousands— major embarrassment to Orban

After the assassination, murder, and attempted murder in Minnesota, the Dem governor — who was also reportedly also on the alleged killer’s hit list — urged his state’s people not to go out to the No King’s protest, fearing that the gunman would target them as well. People showed up in droves anyway

If we know where they were sent, but it isn’t to detention: exile.

If we know where they are & it’s in detention: extraordinary rendition.

If we don’t know where they are, but we know someone’s holding them: kidnapping.

Otherwise, if we don’t know where they are: disappearance.
Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation.

I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?

@ricksteves.bsky.social any chance you can share your remarks for those that didn’t make the Edmonds rally? As always thank you for encouraging Americans to get to know their neighbors and ‘keep on traveling’

This is the thing.

Manufacturing jobs 100 years ago were dangerous, precarious, and poorly paid.

Manufacturing jobs 70 years ago were a golden ticket to the middle class.

The jobs didn't change. What changed was the New Deal and unions.
The problem is: they've mistaken correlation for causation. They think their parents and grandparents had a good life *because* of manufacturing jobs. When, in reality, their parents and grandparents had a good life *despite* manufacturing jobs, because of unions, high taxes, and social policies.

Things still terrible, but: Viktor Orban was unable to stop protests in Budapest; Musk's money couldn't win the Wisconsin Supreme Court for Repugs; Marine Lepen is fuming over her court loss in Paris; and Corey Booker made a bravura stand against Trump in the Senate. More days like this please.
