YES TO THIS. 😔 I recently was trying to find the words to describe the way AI slop steals our appreciation of beauty, our curiosity, and sense of wonder.

It isn’t just about truth in political matters, etc.
Funny animal videos no longer being trustworthy just fucking sucks all around. I love the wonder of animal behavior and what it says about the experience of being alive. It's because it happened in reality that it's so fun. It's not fun if it was just made up. There's no wonder there.

Just so I’ve been 100% clear on this recently, and not just through reposting people saying things better than I think I’d be able to: the attack on trans rights—especially on trans healthcare—is hate. It’s not science. It’s not "protecting" kids. It’s 100% fucking hate, and it’s wrong.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

apparently "wacky waving inflatable tube guy" (NOT A BOOK) is 72 on the USA Today bestsellers list this week, so that's great. publishing is great. everything is fine.

I released 2 trans books this year.

The 2nd is a soulmate romantasy where a guy cursed with immortality has to make amends for his past by healing other people's soulmate bonds

At least three days a week, I have to take benadryl to survive a walk, and I didn't bother getting out of bed until 10 today (and yesterday), but otherwise I feel ok right now. Did almost 4 hours of work this morning/afternoon.

My little nephew is too young to read my stories, but he adores me and wants to read my stuff. So I wrote him a children's book, just for him. He loved it.

This year he wrote his own version of that book as a gift to me. It has the same color cover. It has crayon illustrations. It owns.

sometimes I'm just amazed that I ever get anything done. I will do an absolute max of 12 hours of work this week, but it's still something

(currently revising a book that should be out in 2027)
