Last election, the Coalition ran a campaign claiming independents were powerless and could achieve nothing.

This election they’re complaining independents are too influential in their advocacy. 😅

Here’s SOME of what they’ve achieved…

What the heck have the independents achieved?

Israel has massacred 1,000 doctors and nurses in Gaza.

Let that sink in.

There has been no greater slaughter of medical personnel in such a short period this century. Let alone the systemic kidnap, torture and murder at prison camps.

Yet still Australia does nothing...
Israeli attacks have killed over 1,000 Palestinian doctors and nurses in Gaza and arrested over 310 medical staff, who were "tortured, and executed in prisons", according to Wafa news agency.

Speaking of eating disorder culture, I really enjoyed the new female-led blockbuster but can’t shake the feeling that it will have potentially fatal consequences for young girls trying to emulate the physique of its A-list star

"The government has introduced a bill on social media minimum age requirements, but no one, including the Minister responsible, knows yet how it is going to work" is not the behaviour of fully functioning adults.

I write a newsletter (yeah yeah so does everyone) about news & progressive, feminist politics. This week it's a question that comes up again and again in Aus: "Why are these protesters ruining *my* day?"

Most people think protest is just 'raising awareness', rather than making a demand.
Why disruptive protest?
Plus, a free book for you.

It's good people are catching on that the social media ban will mean everyone will have to have their ages checked - not just teens. Though I still feel a lot won't realise until they go to log in one day after it's in and then there will be outrage about it 🥴

While other outlets ask if the Australian Government's social media ban will affect Youtube or Snapchat, our journalists asked the government the real question:

Will the Australian government's ban target President Elect Donald Trump's Truth Social platform?

The bad news: the ruling class are so out of touch they’re having their “let them eat cake” moments quite often.

The good news: they’ve forgotten what happens when they do that

Smartest thing any Australian news outlet has done in the last two years is hire @rachelwithers.bsky.social and give her the independents' beat.
In this week's instalment of Forget the Frontbench, I chat with Tasmanian Senator Tammy Tyrrell, the first and so far only politician to use the phrase “cacking my daks” on the floor of parliament:

Tammy Tyrrell isn't just Lambie Lite, and now she's going after Labor's social media ban
Former Jacqui Lambie staffer Tammy Tyrrell is very different to her former boss. But is that what the people of Tasmania voted for?
