So much of our politics is designed to meet the emotional needs of older Americans. These people refuse to take Trump seriously because they *must* believe that in order to vote for him.

Pundits feed this fantasy because taking Trump seriously would require them to do a different kind of journalism

I agree that Americans minority government structures are one reason people believe govt doesn't work.

But the Biden Admin has, with remarkable success, worked.

One reason he doesn't get credit is the press largely refuses to do policy.

Another is America's media landscape is deeply ill.
2/ When it comes to the United States, I'm increasingly of the view that the filibuster in general, and Mitch McConnell in particular, have played a key role in bringing the Republic to the brink.
