Ok I knew something had changed, as the light rail is great but transit seemed to be worsening at the same time, but did not realize it was this drastic! Bus service is an equally important component to our transit system!
Seattle used to fund so much transit service until covid (and jenny durkan)

In 2019, almost 75% of the city lived within walking distance of a bus every 10 mins or better. Today, it's only like 50%!

Time to get the buses running again!

I’m so sad to hear this - another signal that the Seattle city council does not understand its constituents.
Rinck's amendment to restore eight neighborhood centers eliminated by Mayor Bruce Harrell in his proposed comprehensive plan fails, with only Rinck voting yes.

Ppl who use trees as an excuse to stop housing were for amendments 93 & 102. They were against any pro housing or reduced parking amendments (green circles). Don’t fall for their lies - they’re NIMBYs pure & simple.

This is, like, *the* issue.

People are *going* to move here. Unless Cascadia secedes--unlikely!--we are part of internal freedom of movement in the US.

Right now, people with money win and people without (A LOT OF) money lose. Katie wants to fix this, Bruce doesn't. It's that easy.
One of the reasons Katie is running for mayor is that she wants housing to be affordable for all of our residents.

Housing costs have doubled since Bruce Harrell first took office.

Social housing is one important part of that puzzle.

Let’s talk about it!

“councilmembers elected by geographic wards or districts are often afforded special deference. In Chicago, this is called “aldermanic privilege” and has repeatedly come under fire for creating small fiefdoms, inviting cronyism, and making it harder to implement citywide programs.” - I’m concerned!

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

At a press conference at City Hall this morning, the Working Families Party and PROTEC17—the largest union of City of Seattle workers—endorsed Katie Wilson for mayor. The city union's endorsement is especially monumental because for most of these workers, incumbent Bruce Harrell is their boss.

there is 1 (out of 9) renter on council in a city where over 55% of residents are renters.

the mayor's comp plan and council have no desire to create a comp plan that doesn't prioritize homeowners. in any other country they'd be out of office so quickly.

If this goes through, say goodbte to Wired, Teen Vogue, Ars Technica, The New Yorker, Them, and Vanity Fair as you know them currently.

They'll be gutted and reoriented towards oligarch friendly propaganda.
Bezos is considering purchasing Conde Nast as a present to his now wife. Conde Nast owns not just Vogue but also Wired. Apparently, purchasing media to turn it into a propaganda organ is now the latest nuptial gift among the oligarchs.

I'm going to become the joker.

I live in LA, not NYC, but I just want to say how refreshing it is to see big city politicians who give big cities the love. We LOVE our cities and we'd die for them. That's why we all live here
On Friday night, we walked the length of Manhattan, from Inwood Hill to Battery Park.

New Yorkers deserve a Mayor they can see, hear, even yell at. The city is in the streets.
