Military personnel are signaling their fidelity to the rule of law, but are wise to maintain ambiguity. Military intervention should only follow a complete failure of normal politics, such as the suspension of elections. An active, engaged citizenry can save our democracy. Let’s not punt the work.
Are they ready to save it not privately—

There must be zero tolerance for violence — of any kind — against the brave men and women in uniform who selflessly serve our communities and our country. The shooting of National Guard members in Washington, D.C. is horrific and unacceptable.

16 minutes into Stranger Things S5 and I have two thoughts:

1) The use of AI in the opening scene spells trouble for the film and television industry; and
2) Why are Soldiers wearing the Fort Benning Maneuver Center for Excellence patch? They aren’t in TRADOC.

The death of two national guardsmen is a horrific tragedy.

It is also an orchestrated tragedy by a president hellbent on creating a tinder box environment across the country.

The draft dodging idiot posted a pic of this West Point plaque. It contains these words:

“Our American Code of Military Obedience requires that, should orders and the law ever conflict, our officers must obey the law.”

That is precisely what Senator Mark Kelly told officers to do. #NoSedition

JD Vance sold his soul to gain favor with Trump. Mamdani stood on principle and Trump has embraced him with zeal.
Q: “Are you affirming you think Trump is a fascist?”

TRUMP: “That’s ok, you can just say yes.”

ZOHRAN: “Ok. Yes.”

When Trump was asked about the release of the Epstein files, he called one reporter "piggy" and said another was "being insubordinate."

When Trump saw a video calling on the military to follow the constitution, he called for the death of the Democrats who made the video.

He's a tyrant.

BREAKING: The U.S. Coast Guard just announced they won’t classify swastikas and nooses as hate symbols anymore they’re calling them ‘potentially divisive.’ Potentially divisive? Listen, a noose isn’t a conversation starter. A swastika isn’t a debate topic. They are dangerous hate symbols. Full stop

OpenAI is audited by Fontanello, Duffield & Otake and this is their whole website. This is starting to feel like Enron on steroids.

Literally just lectured about this!

In the late 1960s, air quality was so bad in several cities they had to turn on the street lights during the day so drivers could see. And yeah, the Cuyahoga River was so polluted it literally caught on fire.
Oh, I don’t know. Our rivers no longer catch on fire and our air is far less poisonous than it used to be, even in smog bowls like Los Angeles. And I think those are good things.
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.

Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

these epstein emails are pretty damning. i sure hope that we haven't spent the last couple years in a cultural backslide where men are seemingly allowed to openly and gleefully fantasize about dominating young women without any threat of reproach

Honoring veterans goes beyond media posts. It requires educating and hiring veterans; housing homeless veterans; and voting for candidates who advance veteran interests.

It’s that time of year when family expects you to bring a significant other to festive events, but you plan to attend solo after uncovering shady behavior from the person you were dating.

Halloween and social media, you win yet again.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Having lived through several previous shutdowns as an active duty service member, I’m very sympathetic to those who have gone without paychecks.

I’m sorry but I’m more sympathetic to those whose health insurance premiums will double, triple, or worse.

Those Dems should’ve held the line.

Collective Susan Collinsism was not part of my 2024 bingo card.
It still boggles my mind that so many people couldn't grasp last year how significantly more morally depraved a second Trump term would be in comparison to the first. And how so many people still can't comprehend that our national crisis isn't about politics, but simple morality.

My grandfather, a member of the Greatest Generation, taught me two lessons:

First, adversity is not your enemy, but rather the force that will propel you to meet destiny.

Second, there is hope in our future and a future in our hope.
There's a particular kind of doomer on here who's like "and then SCOTUS will install him as president for a third term, and the military will back him up" as if that's the end of history.

Friend, there's still an "and then" after that.
