This out-Onions the Onion. Destruction of trust in science is part of the erosion of truth and the attack on democracy.
It’s so laughable that it could be a satire from The Onion.
Unfortunately it seems to be deadly serious.
The US administration tries to destroy real climate science and to replace it with the fossil fuel lobby’s view.
I look forward to the legally required, transparent peer review process required by the US Global Change Research Act and the Information Quality Act. I always thought they would try to do a NCA with Judith Curry, five old men and a LLM.

Pleonexia. Learn this word. It’s all around us.
As Christmas approaches, I reflect on my word of the year: pleonexia — an ancient Greek term describing the insatiable desire to take more than your fair share, even when it harms others. In 2025, we saw that everywhere.

We are with you on championing truth in science!

Authoritarian leaders always devalue truth so they can re-define it as whatever they want – this allows them to re-define ‘the will of the people’ to be whatever they want.

Excellent BBC Radio 4 programme about the radicalisation of young women - young women are increasingly moving left and voting green, while their male counterparts move to the right. Some superb insights here.

Underfunding education damages democracy.
Chronic underfunding of our public education system hurts everyone.

Students lose access to affordable career training, our local economy loses skilled workers, and faculty are forced to teach under impossible conditions.

Particularly important that our young people learn about how science acts as a bolster against totalitarianism, with trusted knowledge about the observable world. 🧪✊

Closing this world-leading climate research centre would be a disaster for the science of climate and our understanding of climate change - which gets more important to everyone, every day. I spent a formative couple of weeks there in 2013, it was welcoming, open, classy, excellent and beautiful.

This documentary captures the destruction of the past year at NIH and so many agencies. It’s an important watch.
If you’ve ever worked inside a federal agency, or know someone who has, you already know this kind of purging weakens our country.

HEIST documents how institutions are dismantled from the inside out.

Well, this is an utter disaster for science.

This gutting of peer review is very likely driven by Project 2025/OMB/Vought, very likely is about funding junk science, and very likely is coming for #NIH and biomedical research next.
