Great summary of what went wrong for right-wing politicians in Australia. Maybe the lack of any curiosity about the lives and experiences of other people is what leads you to being utterly unable to read the room. DEI, empathy and curiosity are crucial for a strong, healthy and resilient society.
A feedback loop tanked Dutton's campaign in its final week
Reactionary newspapers and the outdoor advertising sector might have immediately profited from the last few weeks of the election campaign but it didn't seem to help politicians at the polls.

We don't need new gas wells. We just need to stop big gas taking the piss.

Port Darwin is a critical asset and should be in public hands to meet the needs of the NT and the Australian economy. Labor and the Coalition think the issue is whether a US or Chinese corporate own it. The Greens know the real contest is public v corporate, and we say public.

It's shocking that Trump has asked Australian universities if their research includes things like gender studies, but it's even more wild learning how reliant our research institutes are on US funding. Our unis really struggle to grasp not putting all your eggs in one basket. Hopefully that changes.
As Trump regime threatens research that doesn't espouse his fascist ideology, Australia's largest partner is now unreliable. Walking away from repeated offers to join largest fund in the world, Horizon Europe, was always a mistake. Now it's a grave error. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/2025/03...
‘It was a mistake’: Australia fails to sign up to $163b research fund
As Australia loses research funding following a Trump crackdown, academics believe the government has failed universities by rejecting multiple invitations to join Europe’s largest fund.

The Prime Minister should not be inviting Trump to Australia.

Trump is a danger to peace and a danger to democracy.

He emboldens hate and hard-right ideology.

We should be rethinking our relationship with Trump's US, not sucking up to him.

I'd be pretty pissed if I was Tanya Plibersek. She seems to be doing the bare minimum within the guidelines her government has given her about not pissing off industry, and they still keep undermining her.
“This shows how deeply unpopular this policy is,"

The Australian reports Tanya Plibersek has suffered a significant drop in support in her electorate, while most of her constituents back potentially removing salmon farms from Tasmania’s Macquarie Harbour, contrary to new government legislation.

Instead of focusing on cost-of-living relief, Labor used the cover of the budget to do a deal with Dutton to gut our environment laws.
