At very least the rest of us need to change our assumptions and MOs. Something from my religious way-back-machine tickles my memory. "Wise as serpents, gentle as doves?" And also "don't mistake my gentleness for weakness." Time for strength and cunning.
We have allowed sociopaths and psychopaths to create a society in which only they can thrive.

I'm realizing, being married to a govt employee today is a bit like being married to a union member going on strike. Nervous about finances and how long it'll last while fully supporting those not bending to unfair, unsafe demands. Weird feeling.

Joy, delight, and wonder are such powerful things! Resilience depends on them! So find at least one, maybe 5 or even 10 things every day that make you smile and give you something to look forward to. Especially when things feel dark and bleak.

NEWS: House Appropriations Committee Republicans released their spending bill for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. The legislation would prohibit taxpayer dollars for any type of gender-affirming care for transgender people. This would include programs like Medicaid

It takes so much repetition, practice, and self awareness to get good at this. Treat it like working out. New muscles need to build strength gradually. No shame! Major kudos to anyone who does this work! You're a badass!
Every version of us handling a trigger, flashback, or other trauma response involves pushing pause, acknowledging what's happening, & using a self talk, mental focus, or physiology tool-- which in no way means doing this is "easy," "obvious," or that struggling w/ it is shameful.

Yes! If you wonder what you can do to help, to make a difference, here's a good place to start. You have a shield of privilege. Extend it over those who need it, because not everyone can safely draw their attention.
Sounds good to apply to personal interactions as well. Boost your inner and energetic strength, shine it bright and true, take reasonable precautions, and rest safely in that. Being reactive shows weakness and throws you off your center.
The strong need NEVER demonstrate their strength. It is readily apparent the second they enter a room. It is the weak that bully, flex, preen, seek to dominate, saber-rattle, peacock.
These are comically weak, insecure, feeble-minded, fatuous little men.

Somewhere in our neighborhood someone has chickens. A rooster crows over and over every morning. It delights me because... urban farming is awesome, and i often wonder what it would be like to ditch our clocks and alarms and live by natural rhythms. Roosters start the day! 🐓
