Before there was Union Station, there was La Grande Station, LA's main railway hub from 1893 to 1939. Located at 2nd and Santa Fe on the LA River, it was smaller but equally ornate, with a mashup of Spanish Colonial, Art Deco, Moorish and Mission Revival styles.

The Ellison family’s desire to take over Warner Bros should alarm anyone concerned with U.S. propaganda & media consolidation—

They would own Paramount, Warner Bros, CNN, CBS, HBO, TikTok & a host of major cable channels

Another on-the-spot watercolour (with pen work) from a sketching trip to Winchester in 1997. I regret parting with this one though I hope the buyer is still enjoying it. This is typical Winchester with the cathedral in the background. See Alt text for more info.

Saw Hamnet today. Best film as well as the most devastating emotionally in years. Even after leaving the theater, I felt like I was going to start crying. Again.

I have no idea who else will get nominated, but I can’t fathom l a performance out there that can top Jessie Buckley’s.

And people *immediately* hate the stuff they've already done.

This isn't like the post-9/11 period when the broad American public was willing to consider previously unthinkable policies.

Almost from Day 1, the vast majority of Americans have said "I don't want this."

In a way it's interesting that both Starmer and Trump won mainly due to dissatisfaction with the old regime, decided to implement deranged fascistic policy, and in the face of plummeting approval ratings and electoral catastrophe, decide what they really need to do is become MORE deranged.
