Congratulations to Maria Corina Machado, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize - her incredible optimism has already changed her country. I spoke to her, and wrote about her, at the beginning of this year:

Maduro is still in place, but a pro-democracy movement is transforming the beleaguered country.

Jim Lovell passes after 97 years on this Earth 🌎

“… I remembered a saying I often heard: “I hope I go to Heaven when I die.” I suddenly realized that I went to Heaven when I was born! I arrived on a planet with … the essentials for life…”

Alina Habba today proclaimed herself the acting U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, days after federal judges replaced her from the position, in a move backed by AG Pam Bondi.
Alina Habba to remain N.J. prosecutor: "I don't cower to pressure"
The move potentially sets up another fight with the courts.

In 1731, a coastal incident involving a sailor’s severed ear was the instigator of a 10 year long war between Great Britain and Spain
A Quebec fisherman who was fishing 15 kilometers north of the US border was essentially kidnapped by US Border Patrol, who capsized his boat and dragged him to an American prison cell.

In any normal time this'd be quite the international incident, y'know?

it is very funny to me to write a post that is like, "Nevada law shields me from paying for any crimes my business does and that's why I love it there."
if this works, will the problem be that investors can't read or that they like being pwned by daddy

The president of the United States is threatening arrest and deportation of an American citizen who just won the Democratic nomination for mayor of NYC.

This is not normal. This is not acceptable. These are the words of an unhinged would-be dictator. I condemn this unequivocally.
Trump threatened New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani with arrest and promised the federal government would look into the state lawmaker’s citizenship.

Even the documented workers are not showing up.

And guess what? You’ll still want your strawberries then you’ll pay more for imported ones.

This isn’t border security.
It’s cruel economic sabotage, dressed up as patriotism.

My wife became a citizen in 2006. I’ve repeatedly said that attending her (and 100+ others) naturalization ceremony on a random fall day in Syracuse is the most I’ve loved America. It’s America at its best; the very embodiment of our values. This is a clear threat to us all.
The White House has ordered the US Dept. of Justice to prioritize denaturalization: voiding the citizenship of US citizens.

Who will it denaturalize? "Any" case that it "determines to be sufficiently important".

Point 10 leaves the criteria opaque and arbitrary.
