Just a reminder how great the Buzzcocks were and how well the music aged. For me the essence of interesting pop music. Three minutes (barely!) of energy and brilliant songwriting. Pete Shelley is missed.

Only just discovered that this has been up on youtube for a couple of months. Elements of it were used in the BBC4 doc of 2004. If you're a fan of music docs that aren't delivered in a gush of breathless adjectives and talking heads inanities you're in for a treat

Such awful news. Paddy Barclay has died. A superb writer, a magnificent man, a friend of thirty years. How we will miss that smile.

Neil Kulkarni left us a year ago. He ripped through the music press like a benevolent hurricane, laid waste to monumental mediocrities but never punched down. He was fired by a raging sense of inclusivity, the belief that things could, should be so much radically better for everyone. Sorely missed.

As late as yesterday, members of Fifa's Council did not know how tomorrow's World Cup 2030 and 2034 "acclamations" would be confirmed

One suggestion, only half-joking, was they'd "count the applause"

There is virtually no scope for dissent

I gave "Funeral Pyre" by The Jam a semi-rare outing at @spellboundclub.bsky.social on Saturday. Their one Goth song! ("We feast on flesh and drink on blood...") Which somehow snuck the word 'pissing' past the censors. What a beast of a record. A showcase for Buckler.
