I always wonder how parents of school age and younger children can teach them good values, such as being kind to others, when the president of the US and his regime are always crass, rude, and downright mean and cruel. How do you do it? I'm genuinely curious.
Walz on Trump calling him the r-word: "We all know both as an educator & parent that using that term is just so damaging. It's hurtful. We have fought 3 decades to get this out of our schools. Kids know better. But this is what Donald Trump has done. He's normalized this type of hateful behavior."

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

President Zelenskyy came to the White House, looking for help from his longstanding ally.

He was ambushed, humiliated and berated for not being grateful enough.

Prince Bone Saw bin 9/11 came to the White House, for the first time since he ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

He was revered.

What Converse called “constraint,” her belief system is structured. It’s giving her cognitive dissonance to deal with an administration that stands for nothing.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I can disagree with the president at times, especially this past Monday, on the Marines' 250th anniversary, when he honored the new Syrian president who is an Al Qaeda terrorist and was wanted by our government for years."

A tale I must tell today on my late mother, and in doing so, I mean no actual disrespect to the Cheney family, grieving as they are for the actual loss of their loved one. The humor that follows is that of the Simon family's dark and dystropic sense of humor and so, an apology in advance.
However...

Gerrymandered and non-competitive congressional districts are also the root of the dysfunction.
This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.
