Cool. Just need some synthetic social scientists now. Much more efficient. 👍
Did you know that from tomorrow, Qualtrics is offering synthetic panels (AI-generated participants)?

Follow me down a rabbit hole I'm calling "doing science is tough and I'm so busy, can't we just make up participants?"

Loved this piece and loved the book (everyone else at the book club I read it with absolutely hated it)
‘We are in the realm of missives as well as kisses; of emails sent, unsent and extensively imagined; letters obsessively pondered, sent, scanned and rewritten; texts noted and scrutinised.’

Maureen N. McLane reads Claire-Louise Bennett.

I sort of wish y'all took this more seriously, because this attitude is a reinforcement of heterosexuality as a hierarchy. It's an acknowledgement and understanding that it's not enough to "be with" a woman, or even to father children.

They define manhood as exploitation, abuse, and dominance.
"Everything straight is actually gay" is my favourite kind of ragebait posts by these morons.

the way that ai is being advertised now is that everyone has to pretend to be incompetent and incredibly incapable and useless at everything

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

In Supply Chain Justice: The Logistics of British Border Control, Professor Bosworth shows how the collaboration between border control and private sector generates profit and how it is normalised. Holly Bird offers a comprehensive overview of this book: lnkd.in/enqx4mzA
