I honestly have no idea how they made this, but I would guess that it has more to do with what other accounts you’re following, and which follow you, rather than content. (My own followers are from all over the place, but cluster around philosophy and cognitive neuroscience, so 🤷‍♂️.)

Johnson has had the benefit of the doubt for years (he arguably still does), including throughout the pandemic. Partygate was a scandal involving the PM, MPs and staff. What the cases have in common is the BBC’s preference to report on personalities and gossip rather than focusing on the substance.

Unedifying that Mandelson was allowed anywhere near government given his previous record, yes.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

True. I was thinking of ‘freedom day’ and ‘eat out to help out’ (sic), though that was a Sunak innovation. Still hard to believe that over quarter of a million died with COVID mentioned on the death certificate in the UK alone. No doubt many more from the long-term effects.

Jack Duffy attaches a respirator to his bagpipes to play through tear gas. “I always play it whenever the police retreat because it's like, ‘You fucking ran while we stayed,’” he says.

Happy #Lawyercat Anniversary for all who celebrate! It's been four years since the kitten appeared in my Zoom courtroom, and I released the 48 second video that made the whole world laugh. Here is the full video showing the big reveal at the end (in two parts because Blue sky). Enjoy!

Was it ever 128 char? I remember Twitter used to be 140 before they doubled it to 280. It all went downhill from there… 😄

Covid protection shouldn’t just be at the Olympics or Davos, everyone deserves to be protected.

My long thread from earlier in the week. Covid is not over!
Not a single thing we were told about #COVID turned out to be correct. A long thread 🧵

“The #coronavirus pandemic is thankfully behind us for a few years now”… um, no it isn’t. We’re still in the pandemic. These are completely sensible precautions for everyone. #COVIDIsn’tOver #SARSCoV2 #LongCOVID
The Dutch Olympic team is taking several precautions: "We're not shaking hands anymore, but we're giving fist bumps," says Verheijen. "We're wearing face masks in crowded areas and making sure we wash and disinfect our hands thoroughly." This decision was made to minimize the risk of illness.

The unedifying spectacle of a UK public broadcaster trying to hound the Prime Minister out of office. Where were they when Boris Johnson’s policies led to thousands of deaths? www.bbc.com/news/article...
Chris Mason: Labour sticks with Starmer for now but this is not over
The prime minister has come through a political near-death experience, the BBC's political editor writes.
