A nice obituary for Alice, who was going to be recognized as one of The Post 50.

I hate that we now have to live without this phenomenal woman.

This is a major win for public health.

It’s Pub Day for this beautiful poetry anthology, Love is for All of Us: poems of tenderness and belonging from the lgbtq+ community and friends, edited by James Crews & Brad Peacock. I’m humbled to have a poem in it, alongside so many amazing others. Congratulations James, Brad & all of the poets!

Poetry is community.

"Poet Jason O’Toole said to me, succinctly, “Poetry is community.” He was right. We write because we believe others will read, and the best and most profound support I’ve had in life has come from fellow poets."

This.
As of Friday, there have been 46 cases in which federal judges have blocked Trump policies.

The rulings in those cases have come from 39 different judges appointed by 5 different presidents (of both parties) to 11 different district courts across 7 different circuits.

Maybe it's not the judges?

There was a reason they attacked DEI first. It's because white christian male supremacist views are core to their movement. Dems should, contrary to the advice of some reflexive compromisers among us, respond by picking up the fallen banner of equality & opportunity. We should proudly champion it.

"The diversity of sexual phenotypes across species is vast and spectacular" & so is this delightful story. Thanks to @professormaney.bsky.social for showing how white-throated sparrows are more proof that we shouldn't "flatten nature’s wondrous diversity into two categories, male and female." 🧪
Do white-throated sparrows have four sexes? This bird challenges us to think carefully about what "sex" even means. Check out this article in Scientific American for my two cents: sex means many different things.

Right now, as this moment in Yasmin Williams' brilliant career, was the right time to bring her in for a Tiny Desk.

She's one of the most inventive guitarists working, writing and dreaming... and she brought a dang 10-foot marimba to our office.
