Finished Butter. Despite a really good hook around mid-way, I think the last 75 pages or so kind of return to plodding along and felt almost... perfunctory in closing out the story. It also becomes very... direct in its analysis? that feels heavy handed.

Holy shit this book took a twist.
It had one last night when I read that was moderately like "oh. Okay that's a new layer," but then swerved again in the next 2 chapters that has me totally unsure where it goes from here.

Reading a bit more on this, being just shy of half way, I think it's definitely improved and become much more compelling in its thesis, although the heavy-handednes of its themes/symbolism can make it feel tedious in places.
