Discovering what happened to my missing letters.

I saw it with a girlfriend and my dad asked what we thought after and both of us were like "didn't know they could make movies this bad" and "why"
December 23, 2025 at 12:03 AM
This was the first movie I ever left thinking "wow this is a bad movie"

i've died so many times because tanks do not move up for spreads, or just like... dilly dally instead of moving with deliberate intention, and its just like... I think the fight is fun mechanically but it is some real No Exit type experience.
December 22, 2025 at 11:09 PM
this fight is aggravating in a very unique way of it punishes really erratic and inconsistent movements, which is one of those things that really gets under my skin from other players.

Its Seiryu levels of "do you know how to move" type shit and getting to me.

i am a petty bitch hater but like, come the fuck on. Come the fuck on. You're gonna be in fucking narnia and complain i'm not joining you? Sorry Edmund, didn't realize the train was carrying turkish delights back there..

tldr - imagine making a movie about cold war propaganda and paranoia, but your only real touchstones are Rocky and Red Dawn, rather than the things those were deliberately drawing up / satirizing respectively.
December 22, 2025 at 6:14 PM
in the way it just kind of played into the wildest sort of cold war paranoia (and one to the point that I think is anachronistic of the era, and more a reflection of 80s-derived media that was reflecting sentiment of prior decades), without any kind of counterbalancing factor
December 22, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Like from the start, i found it unnecessarily Battering over the head with trying to reference the 80s, to the point of being more tell than show, but s3 is where that went from being an Aesthetic thing to trying to be a dialogue or commentary, and ultimately just being Vapid around it.
December 22, 2025 at 6:12 PM
I think this is a polite way of saying that it is completely vacuous tbh

FWIW, I stuck with it through then because I think there is something to be done with the idea of 80s nostalgia mixing with maturity and hindsight. It just ends up being insipid rather than introspective.
December 22, 2025 at 6:09 PM
What I bristle against more is vacuity than imperfect or flawed execution.
December 22, 2025 at 6:04 PM
i'm also only half-joking in that, like,

I don't think everything needs a specific level of clear eyed politics, but I think if you're using politics or eras as a touchstone, you gotta be open to interrogation about that use, and prepared for what comes of it (as a piece of media).

People don't remember that the polar bears have flamethrowers too.
