When will democratic governments realize they need to address algorithms in big tech and inequality to address this wild polarization and rapid increase of hate. Immigrants and queer people and women are not the issue - greed and corruption are!

This is not a mystery.

The Pandemic™️ was indeed ~a pandemic~ therefore, people not being congregated in offices are less likely to get sick.

Additionally, if you're already working from home, working while sick is easier (& safer for others!)

So, OF COURSE sick days will increase with RTO!
Post-COVID, public servants are taking more sick days
Sick days could be rising again due to people’s increase in exposure or their unwillingness to return to the office post-pandemic, expert says

Fun example of "AI" being not just bad but dangerous: Google "AI" is happy to say that Toronto currently has 7 µg/m³ of PM2.5 and is "well below the threshold generally considered healthy." But, the source it links says Toronto is currently actually at PM2.5 of 38µg/m³, which ain't great.

New research by @palyouthmvmt.bsky.social and @world-beyond-war.bsky.social shows that Canadian companies sent 175,000 bullets to Israel in April. This can't be allowed to continue.

Arms embargos, cancelling trade deals, expelling diplomats—we laid out some options to break Canadian complicity👇

I’m increasingly convinced by the argument China’s decade-long investment to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, and particularly imports, is not only creating a new electrified model that other South countries can benefit from, but is leaving the West behind because it can’t ditch fossil fuels.

I want shit like this to keep happening. It highlights the backwards incentives and exposes shady people in academia.

And of course, it is Springer/Nature.

I want people to join me as members of the slow-research movement.

Dear Canadian politicians.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
