I love how the currently proposed "AI" datacenters in the OKC metro are all in traditional tornado paths. I hope these things get absolutely wrecked every Spring.

So far the local communities are putting up a fight against them getting built. But the city is so blinded by the tax incentives.

I had heard about the recent RAM price jump but just figured it was the usual thing you see happen every few years.

Uhhhh $300 for a 32gb kits? What is happening? And not a jump over months but over weeks. This is unsustainable.

One of the best modern examples of wiffing what should've been an easy homerun. CS2 was mishandled so poorly.

I'd normally say this could only be a good thing but it looks like Iceflake has only worked on microtransaction filled mobile games. Not sure how that translates to system heavy PC sim.
Cities: Skylines franchise is moving to a new developer - Iceflake Studios

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order have mutually decided to pursue independent paths - Colossal Order will work on new projects and explore new creative opportunities

The more they peel away at Prime 4 the less appealing it looks.

That being said it was never going to be up there with the first trilogy. People cheering when development shifted back to Retro were delusional. Next to none of that original Prime team is still there.

It's been a hot topic in the last year but I finally feel like I need to start planning to migrate my personal PCs away from Windows. I can't migrate work stuff ofc but what machines I have in my control need exit ramp strategies planned.

MS's "agentic OS" comment this week was the straw that broke

Okay so Steam Frame confirms the leaked proton compatibility layer for ARM. Curious to see just how wide the "verified" library is day one. There is a future where Steam Deck switches to ARM.

Every time I get an email or read a post about how "AI is inevitable" and so you need to do X or Y to get ready for it, I screenshot it. I've saved them all. When the bubble bursts, I'm going to be a menace. I will be unstoppable. I will be taken to prison for the harassment I am going to do.

This is not a slight against FF Tactics but the deeper I play the more highly I think of Triangle Strategy. I very much hope SE is working on a sequel.

Speaking of worthless HDR: I fired up the Switch 2 for the 5th time (yeah) and totally forgot that LCD panel is "HDR compliant". The sucker only gets up to 400 something nits. Felt like I needed one of these to see what I was playing.

New plex/file server should be coming together later this month. For the last few years I have been contemplating setting up a workflow to rip 4K blurays as remuxes. HDR tonemapping has improved to the point that it's passable.

Storage though....you're talking 50-70gb a movie.

Taking a break from RA. Started the long awaited FF Tactics remaster.

I went in expecting to shut off the new VO....so this might be some of the best voice acting I've heard in a video game in a very very long time. This is exceptional. It is enhancing the storytelling x10. Incredible work.

Mastered

These RA completions of early 3D era games are emphasizing just how bad the cameras were. BK is a sharp step up from SM64 but the fact that the camera is locked to specific angles when turning makes trajectory judgment of any type (jumping, eggshooting) a dice roll.
