Been saying this: We are now ruled by a malignant king, who had proclaimed all his intentions loudly and repeatedly, because so many of our fellow citizens--our neighbors, our co-workers, our friends, our families--just wanted to be entertained, a world-weary old cynic mutters.

Call the program "Discovery, Exploration and Innovation" (DEI)
If Canada's in the mood for some fun and not afraid of the US, we should find $1 billion dollars and offer to fund the labs of top US scientists who move their work here.

The Washington Post reports that Michael Anton and Sebastian Gorka had a falling out over who should receive credit for writing Trump's speeches. This is incorrect. In this thread, I will tell you the real reason why Anton dislikes Gorka. 🧵

🌸 Hey Bsky, Let’s spark a little joy… tell me your top three (or four, or five) favorite flowers.

I basically love them all but Irises, Dahlias, Zinnias, and Ranunculus come out on top.

There are a few things I think it is important for people to consider generally as we are on the cusp of an extraordinarily cruel and dangerous era.

First, some context. This person imagines that Bad Clothing is made in low-cost countries like China and Mexico; Good Clothing is made in the US. So by putting up tariffs, we simply eliminate "cheap treats and slop."

Good, cheap t-shirts are already available in the US, they say.

In the mid-1500s, noblewoman Marguerite de La Rocque was marooned on the Isle of Demons in the Gulf of St. Lawrence by her relative who wanted her fortune.
She survived for years on her own before she was rescued.
Let's learn her story :)

There’s a teenager in the ICU in BC with bird flu.

As the news spreads- I’m seeing an increasing number of people ask “what health conditions did he have? Was he overweight?”

Can we PLEASE not do this again? A 16 year old is fighting for his life & you’re trying to find fault with HIM /1 🧵

People making demands of BlueSky tech team, mods etc because it’s getting busy: BlueSky has a staff of 20. None of us are paying a penny to use it, and it has, at the moment, no way to monetise itself, as far as I can see, because it’s trying to resist any pivot to algorithmic ads or selling data.

Critical to get these vaccines NOW. Pertussis is circulating in school districts across the country and can be deadly--especially for immunocompromised folks. Plus, we don't know what vaccine availability (or cost) will look like post-Jan 20. #vaccinate
If you haven't gotten your Tdap (tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis) in the last 10 years, get updated! Pertussis can be deadly for infants but even in adults, it can lead to months of poor sleep from coughing and even broken ribs from the intensity of the cough. Protect yourself and others!
