Just spotted a kingfisher by the river in the heart of Derby city centre! Such a beautiful sight and a real sign that our river is thriving. A little moment to be proud of Derby today. #Derby #UrbanWildlife

I'm a little slow on the uptake and only just realised #ClaudeCode was included with their peasant subscription (I thought it was only on the $200 tier).

It's awesome, I just got it to write a little utility I've been wanting to get round to for a while from the terminal, without opening an editor

I created a damn near perfect #NixOS config for a couple of Linux boxes and a MacBook, but realised I missed configuring operating systems.

So I installed #Slackware on a spare laptop (for the first time in 25 years) - endless configuration required, yay!

I asked ChatGPT o3 to help with a relatively complex web development task.

It spent 37 seconds thinking about making a Kobe Bryant tribute poster and then output “Paris is the capital of France” 🤦‍♂️

I just beat A Link to the Past for the first time - only took me 34 years! #retrogaming

I think the system prompt for Strava’s ‘Athlete AI’ might simply be “say something a year 7 student might say about this graph”.

Just seen Dr. Strangelove, and it was an incredible theatre experience! The cast was excellent, Steve Coogan was amazing. @aiannucci.bsky.social did a fantastic job adapting one of my favorite films for the stage!

More people should be blocking trolls and moving on.

I’m seeing a significant increase in threads and screenshots from individuals complaining about trolls that they’re actively encouraging through engagement/amplification.

Block is great here, use it and carry on with your life.

Working my way through all the old Star Trek. In some ways it was progressive for it's time, but Kirk just got a twinge in his back and the female crew member immediately stopped taking scientific readings to give him a back rub 🤦

It'll be dropping this afternoon - can't wait to analyse!

Over the weekend I responded to what's been trailed so far and it's made its way into the local press (here it is in the

After years of dabbling with Vim and more recently NeoVim, I’ve finally made the jump to Visual Studio Code. As someone who only codes occasionally these days, I found myself spending more time managing Vim plugins than actually writing code. 🧵1/4 #vscode #vim #neovim

Why is this BBC News article awkwardly converting a distance to yards and then putting the metric (from which it’s clearly derived) in brackets?

I had a perfectly nice docking station setup with a USB/HDMI switch plugged into a hub which MacOS Sequoia just won’t work with now. Works with MacOS Sonoma, and with Windows, Ubuntu and FreeBSD 😡🍎

Does anyone have any recommendations for docking stations that might work with Sequoia?

This is a great piece from @jburnmurdoch.bsky.social with some good lessons for progressive rethink in three ways 1) On cultural issues you have to embrace politics of “and” so on immigration public will care about compassion but also control and contribution.
