I thought I was struggling with occasional writer’s block and instead it was actually a symptom of burnout and a trauma disorder. Neither of which an AI can (or should) help with.

Private Eye doing an excellent job of predicting the forthcoming budget headlines in each paper… showing just how ridiculous they can all be.

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.

I’ve got a cold and my partner is out tonight at a party. Boo hoo.

But I’ve got my cat on my lap, and going to watch a terrible movie.

Thinking so far 5 Nights at Freddy’s. But very much open to suggestions!

I love my Nikon, but the iPhone camera really is impressive. Makes going for a walk more fun when you can randomly capture so beautify photos

New in PN: Get ready for the next big bailout

"What this means is that the farmers will be insulated at least somewhat from the damage Trump’s foolish trade war did to them; in other words, they’ll get a bailout. The rest of us will pay for it. And the economy will get no benefit at all."

I realise the audience for this would just be "me, and also maybe other foreigners" but I would love to read something on why Brits, who are happy to live in a country where their every movement outside is filmed by CCTV, hate the idea of having ID cards, something plenty of countries happily have

British media pumps out daily propaganda pieces for Farage, fails to offer *any scrutiny* and basically legitimises rampant racism, then puts on its ‘innocent face’ and clutches its pearls at the rise of the far right…
What a grim betrayal of our democracy.

Reform, with 0.7% of all MPs, featured in 25% of BBC's recent 10pm news bulletins
Astonishingly, a party with 18 times as many MPs as Reform has received one-third less coverage on BBC News at 10.

9 years ago I had a Pebble Steal Time. Loved that watch, but it died when traveling.

As of today, I now have an Apple Watch SE3!

Those who wear a Apple Watch - any tips and suggestions?

I cannot describe how bad this is for tech companies.

Not the $100K fee on *new* H1Bs, but that their software engineers currently abroad can be turned back (or detained?) at the border with ZERO notice!

It brings uncertainty to running a business in the US. Plus (cont’d)

Recently started looking at deploying libraries for Node and Java.
It was very different. Node was deployed in just a minute or two to get it into NPM.
Java takes a load of extra steps to get it onto Maven Central.

I feel this has something to do with this.
What I don't quite understand about node: why does every project have dependency hell, and why do so few projects have no or very few dependencies?

Seems very hard (if not impossible) to audit the dependencies of your dependenies' dependencies...

It’s now been a few days with Liquid Glass on iOS. So far… feels like sugar.
Initial high of the new and shiny, and now the crash. Ultimately, I don’t think I mind it, but it doesn’t add a whole lot, and arguably makes some things harder to read.

Elon Musk doesn’t deserve a trillion-dollar package.

He deserves to be fired.
Apple survived Steve Jobs.

Microsoft thrived after Gates.

If Tesla can’t survive Musk, maybe it deserves its decline.

Tax aside, this is objectively a very sad end to Rayner’s political career: a teenage single mum from a deprived family who went onto be deputy prime minister. The right wing press detested her for not knowing her place. Their glee at her downfall will be palpable in tomorrow’s front pages.
