500 years into the future Romania's legacy of cultivating the fertile Danube plains established them as humanity's foremost off-world agricultural specialists. Their inherited mastery of farming was adapted for new worlds, feeding colonies lightyears away

It is possible to cherish the BBC as an institution while also saying that BBC News is failing very badly, day after day, in its duty to inform and that it always fails in a right-wing direction. It desperately needs to recover its integrity

I’m still in favour of the BBC as a public broadcaster and the licence fee as a payment model. I think a majority feel the same. But the management has spent so long in the thrall/scared shitless of the political right that the news department is now somewhere between useless and actively dangerous.

Enter a parallel universe where Lucy Connolly is a Bradford-based Muslim man called Usman Farooq who has tweeted that people should "set fire to all the f*cking churches full of the bastards", and the Telegraph would call him a terrorist who should be locked up immediately.
"I was Keir Starmer's political prisoner?"

"Really? And what politics got you imprisoned?"

"I publicly advocated for vulnerable people to be burned alive"
This felt inevitable: an interview with Allison Pearson given top billing in the Telegraph.

Connolly suggests Starmer should relearn what freedom of speech means and "what the laws are in this country".

I think he knows but Connolly/Pearson clearly don't. No lessons have been learned in prison.
