Remember a while back where I was screaming about developing proper XP-Pen Deco 02 in most Linux environments?

I finally did a write-up, mostly aimed at a non-technical audience interested in was achieved.

Saw somebody lamenting RSS as a "dead" technology that "couldn't be saved". and pithy comments about all the blogs and news sites I've got RSS subscriptions of aside...

The popularity of podcasts begs to differ. It's all just secretly all RSS all the down. It's alive and it's good. It's just quiet.

I write far too many long threads that should really just be sat on and fleshed out into blog posts instead.

Unfortunately I have like 20 unfinished drafts, and so I believe that this is now where thoughts go to die

The most deluded thing Linux people do is suggest people just use GIMP.

I've seen lots of people saying they want to use Linux, but they can't because they need MS Office for work.

If that's you, the best thing that you can possibly do to move the needle is to start saving things in Open Document Formats: Word documents at ODT, spreadsheets as ODS, presentations as ODP

“try water fox or ice weasel” try chill penguin. install flame mammoth. you just download bubble crab. literally just use boomer kuwanger. sting chameleon has a search bar, use it to find toxic seahorse.
I asked what I should use instead of firefox and someone said “floorp” and I legitimately thought it was a bit for like five minutes. tech has gone beyond making the torment nexus real to making poob real.

"the lootboxes are okay, they're just cosmetic"
"we USE ai, but our game wont CONTAIN it" is a clarification that no one has ever cared about & now CEOs are using it as a wedge to get their foot in the door as a part of a long term plan into normalizing AI, just like how 'it's just placeholder' was used with E33. dont cede even an inch of ground

There's the "I want shorter games worse graphics not kidding etc etc" phrase, how about "I want artists to be able to make mistakes and make weird unappealing shit sometimes and not starve"

Unless you define "ready", and make the target reasonable, you'll never be "ready" to leave Spotify (or music streaming generally, if that's your direction).

These services thrive in expanding your libraries at rates you can't possibly keep up with on a normal income — that's never been doable.

In spite of all the hardship in the game industry at the minute, whether for indies or larger studios, that make it easy to doom over…

I honestly don't think I've ever been more excited by games than in recent years. There's incredible stuff happening and an incredible diversity now.

two types of mass-market "artificial intelligence":

1. can't actually do the thing
2. can do the thing, but only because it's secretly remote workers in Malaysia

I have just seen a post where somebody proudly declared, and explained why, they still primarily use Windows 7.

Whilst I can understand the frustration with modern Windows, I cannot stress this enough:

DO NOT USE ANCIENT OPERATING SYSTEMS ON INTERNET-CONNECTED DEVICES

Something I have to reiterate is that you are being straight up lied to about trans people and our healthcare on an unfathomable scale, this instance reporting is already being torn to shreds by other people commenting, but the frequency of this kind of reporting is astonishing, it's neverending.
You might think from the headline that this is a story about a trans kid suffering medical consequences from a large drug dose but nope! It is just an interview with an estranged father who is angry that his child happily transitioned.

at a certain level of any creative or intellectual collaborative job the main task is sin-eater: to fix what you can and get blamed for what you can’t, secretly knowing how much worse it would have been if you hadn’t done what you did.

My biggest hater take is probably that I find Fortnite to be absolutely dystopian. It's giving me feelings of dread and despair to see all these intellectual properties™ come together in a franchise slurry.

Perhaps the greatest indictment of generative AI is that, chatbots aside, most of my hatred for the tech was on moral grounds.

"It has some good uses, just not this," I said.

Then new research is published. It's bad at one of the few niche use cases I though it suited for. And again. And again.

Have been drawing a lot of faces and heads for my daily-ish drawing practice over the past week, and I think I've finally discovered a method that clicks with me, and has tonight resulted in me drawing something that actually resembles a human being and won't give me nightmares.

If I hear or read "You need to start using AI now or risk getting left behind!" I'm going to scream.

When has anybody ever been "left behind" by not adopting the new shiny thing immediately? Hell, it'll probably look completely different by the time it becomes important, IF it ever does.
