There’s a Tamil phrase, adopted from a comedy movie, that can be said to someone who minimises your pain but makes a big deal out of their own. The phrase is unaku vandha ratham enaku vandha thakali chutneya and it means “if you bleed, it’s blood; if I do, it’s tomato sauce.”

Biggest blackpill for me over the past few years was how much seeming progress was actually just people bandwagoning with whoever they thought was the winning team. I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t exacerbated my authoritarian tendencies.
