This is delicious.
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

“I once met a former bodyguard of one billionaire with his own ’bunker’, who told me his security team's first priority, if this really did happen, would be to eliminate said boss and get in the bunker themselves. And he didn't seem to be joking.”
Tech billionaires seem to be doom prepping. Should we be worried?

Things today's White House autism announcement did not do:

-Discuss strategies to increase supports and services for autistic people/families
-Highlight why autistic people and families deserve respect, not pity or fear
-Endorse one speck of autism research that is not dangerous pseudoscience

Hey a thing I really don’t want to get lost here is that while Tylenol doesn’t cause autism, IT’S FINE TO BE AUTISTIC. Let’s not grant them the premise that autism should be eradicated in our way to correct the science, okay? Okay.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

“This is an enterprise.”

This is the first time I’ve seen this sentiment stated so explicitly. They’re “restructuring” America as a for-profit company. Services for vulnerable populations, research, health, climate, parks, education … excess overhead.

the thread we need 🏆
Something we all should remember, as we talk about worst case scenarios and ways to plan for and survive them:

It's very much worth remembering that we collectively can and will survive them.

And, we will build something beautiful on the ashes of their corrupt and childish violence.

In other, better news: I’ve been reading @amytan.bsky.social’s The Backyard Bird Chronicles, and it is a balm for my soul. Highly recommend.

This interview with (another hero of mine) @edyong209.bsky.social is the perfect companion piece.
On the cutting room floor is the bit where the host introduced their interview series, The Interview, and I asked how long it took to come up with the name. Anyway, here’s me talking about birds and science and burnout and moving through the world. The photo’s nice! www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m...

I’ve been thinking a lot of the “comply in advance” we’re seeing from orgs ditching DEI programs.

When I look at these companies’ websites, a lot of “inclusion”programs remain in place, specifically for diverse employee groups (without describing them as such).

It’s the “equity” that’s missing.
