I don't think being rich makes you a monster so much as the process by which people become rich requires monsters as a prerequisite and nothing about the Epstein file revelations has dissuaded me of this notion

The Tea Party never reached the magnitude of No Kings. Yet it was covered as if it represented “real America,” just like MAGA today. Those are not empirical assessments, but articles of faith – ideological claims about the world that are widely shared in the American mainstream discourse.

Just like when the New York Times did not think the No Kings protests were all that significant, this is indicative of how much mainstream institutions have bought into the idea that only Trump and his supporters represent “real America” and have a right to have their voices amplified.

I've just inked a deal where OpenAI will give me $38B in 2030 and in exchange I will give OpenAI $38B in 2030, I know this isn't "reciprocal dealing", because I checked with ChatGPT first, and it told me it was a great idea and to buy more Nvidia stock too and that I'm god.

If Capital Gains Tax is such a good idea, why are rich people spending so much money on political parties and media companies to convince us it's a bad idea?

Centrism is actually the perfect example of a No True Scotsman, "true centrism" has never been, and can never be, tried because the target always moves; usually rightward.
The sort of thing that becomes apparent when you have a functioning memory is that despite centrist's favored posture, they offer new compromises that solve the issue, their suggestions are not only quite old but also haven't worked before either.

Private equity then borrows against the data centre assets, from the banks, who do have capital requirements that are met by only lending a percentage of the asset value - but the bank collateral can still get zeroed if the whole thing goes to zero...

It's basically subprime data centre mortgages

These stories are piling up in the financial news sources* and it feels like the bit at the start of a movie where the background news is foreshadowing the crisis about to hit

*Funny how the Financial Times and Bloomberg seem more fact driven than the news outlets for the proles, eh?
