I adore practical effects, and part of that fascination comes from all the "making of" shows I'd catch on early Sci-Fi Channel et al.
I loved learning how suits, models, fake blood, and great gobs of KY made some of my favorite moments. It always felt more fun and (obviously) tactile than cgi.

Is there any way to find those old “making of” shows? I can vividly see in my memory some of them.. the T-1000 effects in Terminator 2, the skin sculpting and painting for the velociraptors in Jurassic Park, etc. I LOVED those shows.

It is possible to think that the Israeli apartheid must end now, and that the bombing of Gaza is a war crime, and also think that Hamas indiscriminately murdering civilians is a war crime. It's not even a paradox or a logic puzzle, it's a basic consistent moral position.

I'm going to be so sad when the season is over because the whales the past few weeks have been amazing! this morning, we had a pair of whales coming up next to our boat, rolling over, & playing in the water, so close you could almost touch them (please don't though, it's a crime)
