I met the CA27 pod today & they made quite the impression as we watched them eat a sea lion & surface more than once with intestines draped across their dorsal fins like a morbid, fleshy boa

it was wild moving to california & learning that many of the monarch butterflies migrate east to west, not north to south like they do east of the sierra nevadas

this is a cluster of overwintering monarchs on a eucalyptus in pacific grove's monarch sanctuary

one more night in the tidepools tonight & I had a blast seeing who fluoresces! just about every crustacean I found fluoresced including eelgrass isopods (couldn't get a good pic unfortunately)
