Don’t confuse the UK putting out a statement with the UK doing anything to stop a genocide it is directly complicit in.

The notion that the US was not aware, or didn't sanction this is...bizarre (to me).
Trump ran on an 'anti-war' ticket, but the US is always at war, so he needs plausible deniability for every conflict. This explains the overt (and out of character) peace offerings with Yemen/Iran.
