An enigmatic warrior who marches to the beat of her own drum.
You’d hope for better out of a combination of words like “Terry Funk vs. Leatherface in a steel cage” but the resumes of all time great wrestlers are full of average days that contain the odd burst of magic, and this qualifies.

Terry Funk and Leatherface: Two Sons of Texas
Terry Funk would have died spectacularly in a Texas Chain Saw Massacre movie.

New Stereogum looks great and is way less of a drag on my computer, basically the best you can hope for in a website update. Also, man, what a fucking nightmare AI search has been on about 100 levels.
For years, advertising has been how Stereogum made money to pay its writers. While we made progress moving away from that model, Google AI search has decimated the business almost overnight. Today we relaunch with a greater focus on subscription. We’d love your support: stereogum.com/2478838/ster...

Impossible for me to imagine a world where the beating heart of independent professional wrestling isn’t Durham, North Carolina.

Perhaps today is the day I won’t have to see Aziz Ansari before a motion picture.

That Ladybug Transistor record just got repressed, too. Repressing concerns.

Way, wayyyyy into “Dawn of Revelation,” “Rocks In My Pockets,” and “Broken to Begin With,” which I could not help but hear as a New Sensations-era Lou Reed song (maybe my 2nd favorite solo album?) after JD talked about Lou during a set last night. Matt Douglas’ mix is exceptional.
did you know the Mountain Goats have a new album out today and you can buy it or stream it and dance to it in your living room or while driving or on the subway and it's a whole vibe? well now you know that 30tgrs.ffm.to/ttfafpb

My Grandpa did one of the jobs in the Riviera mural, my Dad would always point it out. I get how it's inspirational. Good on em and let's get their back.

the craziest thing that happened to me this year is that I had a dream where Jason Molina was singing the phrase “gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein” and woke up and discovered that he actually did a cover of “Werewolves of London”

Been quietly obsessing over this song by Eleanor Moss for a month now and can’t wait for what she’s got coming in 2026.

That Effy/Zohran mashup shirt is one of the laziest merch drops in wrestling history, and as the maker of several contenders I ought to know.

The Monday Nitro Masterlist returns with the 2/9/98 edition, which crashes the top 10 of the project with three entries: Eddie/Jericho vs. Chavo/Malenko, Goldberg/Regal, and Savage/Hogan. A stunner!

Check out bump freak Macho Man Savage in 1998, driven by spite and willing to liquefy his jaw if it means getting a shot at Hulk Hogan.

Coming to political consciousness in the early 2000s, Dick Cheney was one of the men who kinda tore the veil from my eyes re: the notion that America had or could better itself or the world — raw, unmitigated evil operating under the cloak of ineptitude and buffoonery on an impossible scale.

This new Predator movie looks kinda bad, the last thing I want out of Predator is lore, they should just put Prey in theaters.
