Plans to leave refugees in a state of perpetual uncertainty about where and if they can rebuild their lives are not just performative cruelty, they are counterproductive to integration and the economy. It doesn’t have to be like this - 1/2

What actually happened is the opposite of "woke". There is a turkey shortage because of bird flu.

You know the sort of thing animal welfare regulations and consumer protections might have prevented if not for decades of deregulation.

🔉What dangers does X pose to our democracy? And should the government stop using it?

Good to hear yesterday from @sundersays.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social on the immense risk of X as it ignores legal obligations and its owner tries to influence UK politics.

There wasn’t, isn’t, and will never be a “generic British accent”. Next time you visit go to Brighton, Leicester, Manchester, and Newcastle. Then talk to me about the British accent.

Kind of R&B thing today. A little woolly on the articulation. It’s good to look for things to improve without being too negative, which is part of the point of doing this.

He was criticised at the time by just about everyone.

Nowadays they'd be discussing what he meant on #R4today

Some have drawn a parallel between current VI polling and that in mid-2019, with the implication the traditional duopoly will inevitably reassert itself, again. I've looked at whether the evidence supports this.

(I've speedily written it up, as I felt a thread would see parts get selectively RTed)
2019 again?
Is current polling just a repeat of that summer’s surges?

Everybody: please stop mentioning that Farage was regularly on Russia Today, a channel now banned for its Russian propaganda content, blamed the EU for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2014, had a Russian spy running his Welsh operation, and built his whole career on a policy Putin supports.
Farage is doing a big media push to deny he has any links with Putin and Russia.

It’s obviously starting to hurt.
