Just a little grey duck in a big grey world. He/him. (Not to be mistaken for ho/hum.) If I have a "main topic" it's the game #Satisfactory. My main textual output is (or should be, if I'm behaving myself) over at my not-a-blog: https://greyduck.net
I'm so, so happy with how my new Heavy Modular Frame production site turned out in my current solo #Satisfactory run. It's not *pretty* yet but I accomplished all of my goals, and that's not nothin'.
Satisfactory: Fully Walkable
It's only taken me a few years of playing this game but I finally accomplished one of my goals: Making a big factory that's fully walkable. No jumping or crouch-sliding is required to navigate my new ...

It's the kind of year where, after getting back to my desk (I was only in the kitchen for maybe three minutes!) to find that one of my computer's monitors has stopped working, I just go "sure, of course, why not."

(Switching from Displayport to HDMI and rebooting made it work again, so... eh?)

I'm a day early on completing my Heavy Modular Frame facility, or at least bringing it online, in #Satisfactory. This means I can take my time doing the weekly write-up tomorrow, and then figure out my next steps. I'm *quite* pleased with how it turned out!

Love getting a random R.U.R. reference from my favorite dictionary account on a Friday afternoon. I salute you, M-W socials staffer, on behalf of my namesake!
Ok, but how are the robots going to feel when they find out ‘robot’ comes from the Czech word ‘robota’ which means “forced labor”??

Did I bite off more than I can chew with this new factory build in #Satisfactory? Maybe, but so far I'm sticking to my principles: Make it walkable, leave plenty of room, and put the spaghetti in a logistics floor (except for at the smelters). It should look great when complete... I hope.

Not only is this true but it reached an audience that was skeptical of the idea but since it was included with subscription why not try it and then that absolutely insane opening hits and it’s over you’re addicted.
K-Pop Demon Hunters.

It being on Netflix turned it into a phenomenon because every kid could watch it at home and watch it over and over again, at no extra cost to parents.

My anti-doomscrolling remedy this evening was multi-part: Warframe, Satisfactory, and some videos on Nebula (Like Stories Of Old, Polyphonic, and Patrick H Willems).

Tomorrow I'll probably go all-in on building a snazzy new factory, though.

After a few days of letting my brain soak in the sounds, I think I've come up with some thoughts worth jotting down about the new @assemblage23.bsky.social record, NULL. (Short version: It's pretty good, and feels like a step in a more confident and mature direction.)
Assemblage 23 – Null
"House On Fire." "Let The Wind Erase Me." "Spark." "The Noise Inside My Head." "Bravery." "Welcome, Apocalypse." And... hmm? The new A23 record, Null, arrived a few days ago and I've given it a few listens through. If you need a quick one-liner take, I'd say that every one of the ten songs lands somewhere [...]

Seriously you can’t spend 30 years making show after movie after book about how marriage & kids are LITERALLY THE WORST PRISON IMAGINABLE, women who want a family are a boring drag, dudes are cool & cool dudes never want commitments, then look around & go “how come y’all don’t want marriage & kids?”
Funny how many folks are childfree now that the people who grew up in an era of media portraying women who wanted kids as UNBEARABLY cringe & 90% of “career woman” stories ended with her giving up her entire identity to push out clones of a sentient boot who sort of hated her are of childbearing age

Nothing like getting "No Scrubs" stuck in your head because the cheesy schmaltzy country song playing at the grocery store had lifted the chorus's melody from that older, better song absolutely note for note.

And now for some headphones time, maybe with some JER or some A23 or... anything, please.

Not that this is really *news* given all the foundations floating in the air. But still. This new glitch affects my ability to play with the trains!
