Right, now, I'm honestly more interested in this than a PS6.
Valve is making a console. The Steam Machine, a sleek box with the guts of a mid-range PC that runs SteamOS, will arrive in early 2026. Prices TBD, but unlike the failed Steam Machine initiative from a decade ago, this is Valve's own device. Big news www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

It's a depressing old life? I always figured it would be better than this.

None of this was ever about Online Safety, not about protecting kids. It was all about control and surveilance.

And if you think that sounds a bit too "tin foil hat conspiracy theory", well, you might want to rethink your perspective.
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.

Been a very Bond heavy day on here.

But it does show people genuinely still care about it as a franchise, which is nice.

I'll talk Bond with anyone and I actually appreciate anyone who listens to me rambling about it.

Yes. Loved the show, loved the movie.

But, erm, Alice is dead... Maybe they'll go for a hallucination/ghost style thing.
Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson are reuniting as detective John Luther and his serial killer paramour Alice Morgan for a new Luther movie at Netflix.

Jamie Payne will direct from a script by franchise creator Neil Cross.

I love that they killed off Bond in No Time To Die.

It's a brave decision and hugely emotional, all done to save his daughter.

It puts a cap on that era of James Bond.

I never thought doing it would cause any bother when it came to making more films.

I'd watch it.
Fine, I will write the next James Bond.

INT: SEX CASINO, NIGHT
BOND: Hello I am Bond James Bond my car goes NYOOM
CUT TO: ten minutes of a chase in a sports car
BOND: Also my watch is a special watch that makes ladies blouses see through
EXPLOSION
BOND: This film is for grown ups

Everyone has their own opinions on what to do with Bond.

But everyone also agrees, it is an easy franchise to do so many different things with. It has been a bastion of reinvention for 6 decades.

Of all the franchises, it feels like the easiest one to keep making.

I really don't understand why this is a problem.

Craig's Bond wasn't the same Bond as Connery or Moore.

Bond has only ever really had continuity to its actors, not an ongoing story, and if anything, Craig's Bond was so much easier to seperate because his WAS an ongoing narrative.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Top 3, because there are, in fact, only 3 films films I'd not seen before that I gave 5/5 to this year that were not from 2025

La Belle Noiseuse (1991)
Ramen Shop (2018)
Tokyo Pop (1988)
What is the best movie not from this year that you’ve seen this year? Bonus points if you say why

I don't mind the changes to the story, mostly because they're minor but apart because there's zero point in just making the exact same film over and over again. Not sure this will be remembered as the...

Sometimes, not always though, when I watch a weird film and I don't like it, because it's just not my jam, I still feel at the end that I'm really glad someone got to make it.

More batshit weird films please. Even if they're not for me. Because someone deserves them.
