After the bad year, I promised myself I'd watch less films each year, and I had stuck to that, but I've now watched more in 2025 than I did in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

And there's still 7 weeks to go.

Disappointed in myself because I know I use watching films as a crutch.

That might be the worst last 10 minutes of a movie this year.

A ★★½ review of The Running Man (2025)
This is aggressively fine for the most part, the first hour is actually pretty entertaining as it plays out like a big budget version of Hit Man, with Glen Powell donning various costumes, but the sec...

This is one of the coolest Hot Toys I've ever seen.

But I can never escape the fact that they cost £300-400.

5/10 is a perfectly fine score to give a film. Doesn't mean it is bad.

I watch a lot of films. Too many, you could, and should, say.

But I do love it when you watch something and it absolutely floors you in every possible way.

A ★★★★★ review of Long Day's Journey into Night (2018)
This might just be one of the very best films that I have ever seen. And do you know how I know that? It's not the dreamlike nature or the GORGEOUS cinematography or the great acting, or that amazing ...

I'd partly forgotten how nasty Luther is, not sure the BBC would make something this violent and unpleasant these days.

Glad they did back in the day though, it's so good.

Every time I think about the Steam Machine, I get a little excited. Haven't felt this about anything game related for a while.

It's a nice feeling.

I still can't believe they can do special effects on this kind of level on television.

But, the first season wasn't great. The cast was great. I hope this is better.

This wouldn't have necessarily transferred into it being a box office hit. Which is a mistake some people seem to be making.

Right, now, I'm honestly more interested in this than a PS6.
Valve is making a console. The Steam Machine, a sleek box with the guts of a mid-range PC that runs SteamOS, will arrive in early 2026. Prices TBD, but unlike the failed Steam Machine initiative from a decade ago, this is Valve's own device. Big news www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

None of this was ever about Online Safety, not about protecting kids. It was all about control and surveilance.

And if you think that sounds a bit too "tin foil hat conspiracy theory", well, you might want to rethink your perspective.
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.
