I am so glad interviews like this are on @rascal.news. Making space in this artform to think about play not only as a positive or even neutral thing, but a locus of complex dynamics of power, is important in not only confronting the ways play can be hostile, but telling complex stories through play.

There's an rpg design exercise I taught myself to do many years ago, and it's never failed me. How it works is, you take an rpg rule and sort out, in all its components, which are real and which are fictional.
The nearest rpg book to me right now is Paul Czege's forthcoming Balsam Lake Unmurders.

OK so let me demonstrate how it works - Ithaca in the Cards 2E has a player/facilitator acting as Fate to set challenges for players as they journey home after a quest. During setup, you draw 2 cards to determine your initial quest - referring to the prompt table - and set its "difficulty" (18 here)

As a former associate through this program, this is bleak as hell. Compensation is fairly modest, and many participants (including myself) travel far aross the country to work at their assigned host sites. To see people's livelihoods and public health capacity taken away so abruptly is maddening.
CDC’s public health associate program (PHAP) was destroyed this weekend. All trainees terminated. PHAP stations young public health workers in state, local, territorial, and tribal health departments to train in and provide technical assistance for surveillance, communications, lab work, and more.

Hier wohne ich. Man kann uns besuchen, unterstützen und sogar hier noch mit einziehen. Das Wohnkonzept Mietshäuser Syndikat allein aber ist schon sehr interessant für alle Menschen, die sich für gerechtes Wohnen und Gentrifizierung interessieren.
Wir sind ein nachhaltiges solidarisches #Wohnprojekt in #Bonn und Teil des #MietshäuserSyndikats. Hier wohnen 20 Menschen aller Altersgruppen rollstuhlgerecht und selbstverwaltet zusammen. Wir freuen uns über Mitwohnen-Interessierte, Unterstützung durch Direktkredite und Besuch an den Mitmachtagen.
