Rick Carlisle can’t say it but I can: the @nba.com ref situation is out of control. Completely dysfunctional, nonsensical and, in may cases, openly corrupt.

Adam Silver has to go.

Prometheus. It is the best alien film since Aliens.
☝️Is there a sci-fi movie that you defend tooth and nail, but you feel a little alone in loving it?

Three bad and one mediocre starting pitcher performances combined with a mediocre bullpen will kill your playoff chances. Judge’s prime ends with an ALDS loss.

Cole/Fried/Rodon/Schlittler/Schmidt will be a good 1-5 starting rotation next year. Excited to see how they rebuild the bullpen and lineup
Jays scored 10, 13, 6, and 5. I’m sure there will be narrative-building, but this is a pretty simple story to tell.

Absolutely horrific attack on Charlie Kirk that has no place in our society. Political disagreements are to be handled in a debate, not with violence.

Another violent encounter in Florida. When will Gov DeSantis get off his ass and deal with it?
Florida State LB Ethan Pritchard was hospitalized in the intensive care unit after suffering a gunshot wound late Sunday night.

The school released a statement Monday morning, citing that Pritchard is in “critical but stable” condition at a local hospital.

I hope I’m missing something but they are getting $32.3 million in tax breaks for 270 low income units? So $119,500 per unit? Seems….high. But the supply is needed so go forth and prosper I guess.
Boarded-up buildings, vacant lots in Indy to be replaced with affordable housing. Here's where
At multiple sites near downtown Indianapolis, vacant lots and boarded-up buildings will be replaced with hundreds of affordable housing units.

NFL preseason coverage is an abomination to the idea of sports journalism. Every commentator trying to analyze these games should be put in prison. Where’s Trump to act like an authoritarian when we actually need it?

Hypocrites and liars describes every athletic department in college football. What the fuck is Stewart ranting about? You’ve made a career on the backs of student-athletes who won’t get paid until next season. Get off your moral high horse.
The NCAA memorialized what we’d long suspected about Michigan football under Jim Harbaugh.

These guys lied to people’s faces. Over and over and over.

While the Wolverines will get to keep their national title, the reputational hit they've taken is no small thing, @slmandel.bsky.social writes.

Just going to reiterate that in 2016 Trump inherited the lowest murder rate of any president in 50 years. He set reality aside, gave his “American Carnage” inaugural address, and was then the first president in 30 years to leave office with a higher murder rate than when he started.
...Voters really, really care about controlling immigration and crime. They just do. And if voters don’t think Democrats will take those issues seriously, they elect a garbage human like Trump who will seize the opportunity to expand his own power.

As a DC resident I do feel that the city has been overrun by "violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals" and I would like them to leave the White House and stop destroying the federal government.
August 11, 2025 at 10:05 PM
What the fuck are you talking about? Democrats are focusing on this issue because it’s a fucking problem and the point of politics is to identify problems and try to solve them.

What is even the point of all your craziness if the point isn’t to identify problems and solve them?
The reason housing costs matter in politics is that they distort political geography - they keep people out of high-cost, disproportionately blue cities and states.

I see essentially no evidence that they are affecting ACTUAL POLITICAL BELIEF OR VOTING BEHAVIOR, however.

Every city councilor will blame the state but not a single god damn one of them proposed a single zoning reform. This is a local problem caused by local cowards masquerading as “political leaders.” Get off fucking Facebook and do something.

In terms of pure failure of results, has there been a bigger failure in local govet than Jesse Brown? Since becoming city-councilor the rich of district 13 have gotten richer, while the poor have gotten poorer. The overall democrat caucus moved substantially to the right. All in 18 months!

There are roughly 1825 homeless people in Indianapolis. At a cost of $40k a year to house them that’s $73 million. What’s your plan? Mine is to raise taxes at the same rate the state is lowering them to pay for this so it’s like it’s free.

This quote really gets at the heart of where well-intentioned advocates for unhoused populations lose the majority.

“When Indianapolis permits large-scale occupation of public land, that becomes a de facto ban on everyone else from using those spaces — or even wanting to go near them.”
Fountain Square camp shows Indianapolis' homelessness strategy is broken | Opinion
