So I just reread New Life/Old Beast over this and seeing how we get there from TDTC is fascinating. The way Dexia is trying to help the former hounds and take care of them but there's the shadow of her possessiveness over them and how ruthless she is in getting the girls to submit-

mechsploitation as a genre has such a strong focus on trauma; i think it’s important to show that in the face of such terrible things, it’s still possible to recover a little and find a spark of hope.

I feel like, especially after hearing my own beta reader’s thoughts on this kind of thing, there’s a place for non ‘bad end’ stories in Mechsploitation. It’s not like this lil’ niche thing is to be taken as seriously as a heart attack, we’re allowed to write whatever✨
