As if we don’t see enough of Nigel Farage on the BBC!
When did you ever hear the BBC stating that it must alter “story selection” and “other types of output, such as drama”, to win the trust of Green voters, or of unrepresented people on the left?
All the shifts are in just one direction.

This is what worries me about the carbon bubble bursting - cleaning up all the uncapped wellls and other abandoned fossil fuel infrastructure will be mind-bogglingly expensive, and the fossil fuel companies need to be made to pay for it before they go bust
"Abandoned coalmines and oil and gas wells are now one of the biggest sources of the powerful greenhouse gas methane" - what a wonderful world it would be if big business was forced to clean up its own filth.

Musk’s bias is so blatant.

The hadal zone - Earth’s deepest ocean trenches – teems with extraordinary life. Scientists just discovered 7000+ new microbial species in the Mariana Trench, which contribute to ocean health & may hold clues to Earth’s past. Good for you, the people of Hoosick Falls, you finally have clean water to drink.

And yes, Maria, the title of your book is absolutely correct. They poison the world.
Here's a rare piece of good #PFAS news: Yesterday, after nearly a decade of fighting, Hoosick Falls, NY finally got a clean source of drinking water. Not merely a treatment system that removes some PFAS while letting others slip through, as most large-scale system do. 1/

“The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 and the Public Order Act 2023 have criminalised many forms of protest and allow police to halt actions deemed too disruptive.”
Police broke into and raided a Quaker meeting house to disrupt 6 women meeting about the Gaza suffering and climate. The first arrest in a meeting house in living memory. Truly shocking. Quakers stand absolutely for non violence. Is there another side to this?

Since this is probably about to be relevant: a reminder that when you poll the general public, they estimate NASA to be between 10-30% of the federal budget. It's less than 1%. All that amazing science and technology and wonder is got for less than a penny on the dollar of your taxes.

Many of us who don’t work on space science directly were inspired to become scientists because of NASA. Also, about 30% of NASA's science budget is for Earth and climate science, and they run one of the global climate models that's used by the IPCC. What happens at NASA will affect all of us.

There’s no democracy when Democratically elected representatives can’t speak their mind for fear of threats and bullying from Trump and Musk.
🧵 This is a perfect example of what I've be describing as disordered discourse, and it's threat to democracy. Politicians are afraid to speak openly about key issues.

Why? Because disordered discourse has captured the system itself—forcing obedience, punishing dissent, and making truth irrelevant.
